Puer Tea Originating more than 1,700 years ago from the small village of Puer in Southern Yunnan, Puer teas are known for their earthy flavor profiles, ability to age and processing shapes (round cakes, bricks and small bowls). Tuocha The Tuocha refers to a family of bowl shapes teas, commonly available as Green, Black, Scented or Puer Tuocha. There are many sizes made and this one is known as Mini-Tuocha or Xiao Tuocha. Each Tuocha is wrapped in cotton paper for convenience in storing and tea preparation. Technique Mature leaves are selected in summer, gently roasted, sun-dried, steamed, and then shaped into small bowls. During the process, the leaves maintain a fair amount of moisture and a natural fermentation occurs that darkens their color.
